I keep hearing a lot of comments about the shocking Newcastle United away record.
How Eddie Howe’s side will have to do far better on their travels if they have any hopes of success this season.
Both media and plenty of Newcastle United fans talking about how terrible it has been.
So has the Newcastle United away record really been that shocking in recent times?
Or like a lot of things, does the reality (the FACTS) tell you something different?
Have a look at the most recent 19 Newcastle United away matches across these past 10 months.
The Newcastle United away record since New Year’s day 2024:
Sunderland 0 Newcastle 3
Fulham 0 Newcastle 2
Aston Villa 1 Newcastle 3
Forest 2 Newcastle 3
Arsenal 4 Newcastle 1
Blackburn 1 Newcastle 1 (NUFC won on penalties)
Chelsea 3 Newcastle 2
Man City 2 Newcastle 0
Fulham 0 Newcastle 1
Palace 2 Newcastle 0
Burnley 1 Newcastle 4
Man U 3 Newcastle 2
Brentford 2 Newcastle 4
Bournemouth 1 Newcastle 1
Nottingham Forest 1 Newcastle 1 (NUFC win 4-3 on penalties)
Wolves 1 Newcastle 2
Fulham 3 Newcastle 1
Everton 0 Newcastle 0
Chelsea 2 Newcastle 1
That Newcastle United away record reads:
Played 19 Won 10 Drawn 2 Lost 7
As you can see, we aren’t talking about a few games, this is an excellent Newcastle United away record lasting more than two thirds of a year.
To win 10 and lose only seven of these last 19 away matches is very good going..
Also very encouraging to see that Newcastle managed 32 goals in these most recent 19 away matches, averaging the best part of two goals per game.
Eddie Howe’s side of course won at the City Ground earlier this season in the League Cup, United one of only two teams to have beaten Forest this season.
