Brentford striker Yoane Wissa has left the club's pre-season training camp after the Bees rejected a £25million bid from Newcastle for the player.

Wissa has become unsettled by talk over his future, with both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham also interested in his services.

Brentford have set their asking price at £50million as they look to avoid losing both Wissa and his former strike partner Bryan Mbeumo in the same window.

Newcastle, though, are expected to persist in their pursuit of the player after falling short in moves for both Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro earlier this summer.

Standard Sport understands Wissa has now returned home from Brentford’s pre-season training camp as he weighs up his future.

He is set for talks with director of football Phil Giles to discuss next steps this week.

The striker is expected to join up with the squad when they return to London and be part of the squad come the start of the season.

Brentford tried to enter contract negotiations with Wissa recently but saw their advances rebuffed.

The club appreciates that at 29, the Congolese forward is a depreciating asset, and they could look to cash in.

Wissa, who scored 19 Premier League goals last term, has one year remaining on his contract with an option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

Brentford will face QPR at Loftus Road and Borussia Monchengladbach at the Gtech Community Stadium in August before starting their Premier League campaign away to Nottingham Forest on Sunday August 17.

Wissa joined Brentford from Ligue 1 side Lorient and became the club’s all-time Premier League goalscorer last season.
