With a comfortable 3-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano putting them closer to fulfilling their objective of securing a top-two finish, it hardly seemed like Barça were in the midst of a managerial crisis.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Xavi Hernandez’s future, Barcelona did well to block out the external noise and focus on what really matters: securing victories.

However, that does not mean the speculation regarding Xavi’s continuance will end, as a lot remains to be uncovered about the club’s ambitions heading into the summer.

Speaking after overseeing his team’s win, the 44-year-old touched upon his future and its immense uncertainty.

Xavi confident in his continuance

Xavi has constantly iterated that his role is safe and he once again held that sentiment when speaking to the journalists.

“Nothing has changed regarding my future. If something changes, I would be delighted to tell you!” he said.

In fact, he added that he is in constant communication with the president and his staff, with the board room conveying optimism.

“I’m in constant contact with the president and the technical staff. They gave me the confidence to win today, it was important. We’ll see each other soon,” he commented.

Xavi confirmed that he spoke with Laporta after triumphing over Almeria, stating, “With the president, we spoke after our win last match and he told me we had to win against Rayo.”

“I think I’ll see the president now,” he added.

Set to meet with Laporta soon

Additionally, Xavi claimed that a meeting with Laporta is pending, but he has nothing to worry about, as the technical staff has offered assurance.

“I think I have to speak with Laporta, but I’m calm. Deco, and Rafa Yuste have given me confidence too. No one has said anything to me.

“The president is always honest, and he will show that when we speak.”

When asked what did he think of the ‘Xavi yes, Laporta no!’ chants? Xavi replied, “I don’t like chants against anyone at the club. I’m grateful for the support people show me, but I don’t like that. We have to be united.”

Reflecting on the constant media chatter that envelops the club, Xavi remarked that it is simply unavoidable and that the best course of action is to keep winning.

“There’s always noise surrounding our club. All of the media outlets cover us and it’s normal to see what’s happening. You have to accept it.

“They make you feel bad, small, but we have to continue doing what we do and start winning,” Xavi argued.
