FLW's Derby County fan pundit has given his verdict on the impending arrival of Bobby Clark

Derby County are closing in on the loan signing of Bobby Clark from RB Salzburg for the upcoming campaign.

According to Football Insider, the midfielder is set for a medical after the two clubs agreed terms on a temporary deal.

The 20-year-old came through the academy system at Liverpool, but made the switch to Austrian football last summer.

Clark featured 17 times in the Austrian Bundesliga last season, contributing one goal as the team finished second in the table.

Bobby Clark’s statement arrival

When asked about Clark’s impending arrival, FLW’s Derby fan pundit Shaun Woodward claimed that it’s a statement signing.

He’s highlighted their summer business, including arrivals like David Ozoh, as a sign that John Eustace is building a project that players want to be a part of.

“Wow! I didn’t see this one coming, quite shocked to be honest,” Woodward told Football League World.

“I think it would be a real statement signing.

“Real prospect, he’s played at a really high level already for someone so young, and for him to step back to the Championship shows the pull that John Eustace must have at the moment and the project he’s selling people.

“So to have him back, Ozoh, players of that calibre coming into the squad, would give us such a massive boost and give us some real quality moving forward, so really excited by this one.

“Hopefully we can get it over the line and be great to see what he can bring to Derby.”

Derby are set to face Stoke on 9 August in their opening league fixture of the new league campaign.

Clark signing has potential for Derby

Derby have had a strong window, reinforcing their attack with the signings of Carlton Morris, Rhian Brewster and Patrick Agyemang, among others.

Strengthening their midfield options with Ozoh and now Clark is also quite promising, and shows a clear signal of intent to the rest of the division.

Eustace is an exciting coach that knows how to get the best out of younger players, so it’s no surprise that RB Salzburg and Crystal Palace have entrusted him.
