The UEFA Women's Nation League kicked off today with intriguing fixtures across all three sections.
Here is how it all went down across the continent.
Scorers: Katoto 73'
France looks to get back among the very best in the Women's side of the game after opening their Women's Nations League campaign with a narrow 1-0 win against Norway.
Formerly viewed as real contenders during both the European Championship and the World Cup, Les Bleus have slipped down to 11th in the latest FIFA rankings, but a goal in the 73rd minute from PSG goalscoring ace Marie-Antoinette Katoto set them off on the right foot against a credible Gemma Grainger-coached team, who had previously won their previous for fixtures.
Scorers: Nazareth 75'; Russo 15'
England's start to life in the Women's Nations League was not what boss Sarina Wiegman would have hoped for after the European giant was held 1-1 in Portugal.
Arsenal star Alessia Russo set The Lionesses away as she continued her hot form for club and country, but the hosts would battle back thanks to an equaliser from Barcelona starlet Francisca Nazareth to hold the visitors, who already find themselves trailing Spain after their comeback win against Belgium.
Scorers: Beerensteyn 13', 66'; Schüller 45+1', Nüsken 50'
Footballing rivals Netherlands and Germany will have to share the spoils in Breda tonight after an entertaining 2-2 draw to open Group One play.
Lineth Beerensteyn gave the home side the lead inside the first 15 minutes before Germany pulled ahead with goals on either side of the halftime interval from Lea Schüller and Chelsea's Sjoeke Nüsken. Beerensteyn would go on to complete her brace on the night to help Andries Jonker's team earn a point they deserved.
Scorers: Kamczyk 16', Achcińska 20'
Poland's Women's Nations League Group B campaign began on the front foot tonight with a home win against visiting Northern Ireland.
Just four minutes separated goals from Ewelina Kamczyk and Köln's Adriana Achcińska to bank all three points for Nina Patalon's team, who are now level with Bosnia on points early doors.
Scorers: Carusa 45+3
Twenty-fifth-ranked Ireland got off to a winning start in the opening round of Women's Nations League B fixtures after a very comfortable 1-0 win over Türkiye at Dublin's Tallaght Stadium.
The only goal of the match came in the dying embers of the first half when San Diego Wave striker Kyra Carusa put The Girls in Green out in front to stay in the third minute of stoppage time, giving Carla Ward's side a matching result to keep pace early on with Slovenia after their 2-1 win against Greece.
Scorers: Pina 77', García 90+2', Martín-Prieto 90+6'; Abdulai 18', Wullaert 72'
European giant Spain played out a great escape act tonight after storming back to earn a 3-2 win against visiting Belgium.
Mariam Abdulai gave the visitors a shock lead in the 18th minute before Tessa Wullaert doubled the Red Flames' advantage on the night, with Belgium dreaming of a shock win.
Barcelona star Clàudia Pina and former Manchester United forward Lucía García would combine to level the score before Cristina Martín-Prieto broke Belgian hearts with a winner in the sixth minute of added time.
Scorers: Bonansea 5'
In-form Italy earned a narrow 1-0 win at home against visiting Wales after an early goal proved the difference maker on the night at U-Power Stadium.
A strike in the 5th minute from veteran Juventus star Barbara Bonansea would be all that Italy would need who looked the more threatening side across 90 minutes of play. Despite five minutes of added time, Rhian Wilkinson's side were unable to steal a point away from home.
Scorers: Purtscheller 13'
Austria began their UEFA Women's Nation League campaign with a credible 1-0 win at home against an evenly-matched Scotland at Innviertel Arena.
The lone strike of the night came in the 13th minute from 21-year-old Lilli Purtscheller, who slammed home her effort after Scotland struggled early doors to send Irene Fuhrmann's side temporarily atop Group One.
