Wolves to accept £40m bid from West Ham United for Max Kilman | OneFootball

According to Tom Burrows of The Athletic, West Ham United are expected to have a £40m accepted by Wolves for Max Kilman.

The news comes after Wolves already rejected offers from both West Ham and Newcastle United a few weeks ago, and will be worth approximately £10m more than the offer that Napoli saw turned down for The Englishman last summer

However, with The Hammers having been pushing for the move since, The Midlands side are now set to accept a £40m deal for their captain, of which roughly £4m will go to the defender’s former side Maidenhead United, who inserted a sell-on clause into the deal they agreed with Wolves to transfer Kilman six years ago.

As for Kilman himself, he has already agreed personal terms with The London club, with new head coach Julen Lopetegui wanting him “at all costs”, having worked with him during his spell at Wolves, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 27-year-old was the Spanish manager’s second most used outfielder in his 27 games in charge at The Molineux, and has been just as pivotal for The Wanderers since Lopetegui’s departure, captaining the side and playing every minute of the Premier League under Gary O’Neil last season.

A left-footer capable of playing in any centre-back position in a back-three or back-four along a back-three, Kilman would be capable of playing in whichever system Lopetegui chooses to deploy at The London Stadium, where he officially arrived last month to replace the outgoing David Moyes.

With Lopetegui having left Wolves in part due to disagreements with the board over financial restrictions, Kilman’s arrival would indicate West Ham’s significant backing of the of the Europa League winning manager’s, as they look to improve upon on last season’s ninth place finish and regain European football once again.
