Matteo Moretto reports that VfL Wolfsburg have tendered an initial offer for former Eintracht Frankfurt professional Jesper Lindstrøm. The Danish attacker has already been linked with a return to the Bundesliga this summer. Moreno (also confirmed by Sky Germany) claims that Wolfsburg are seeking a loan deal with a €1m loan fee and a €13m purchase option attached. The rumor makes sense in the context of Wolfsburg’s summer outlays.

The low-value offer reflects the fact that Wolfsburg have already invested €37.2m in new summer signings. The expected signing of American striker Josh Sargent shall push summer outlays up to €53.2m. Major new signing included Vinicius Souza (€15m, Sheffield), Aaron Zehnter (€4.5m, Paderborn). Money has also been doled out to acquire loan players Mohamed Amoura (€14.8m, Union SG) and Denis Varro (€2m, Copenhagen).

A move to Lowe Saxony also makes sense when one considers Danish influence at Germany’s green company team. Lindstrøm could receive the chance to play alongside several Danish compatriots Joakim Maehle, Andreas Skov Olsen, and Jonas Wind. Wolfsburg managing director Peter Christiansen is a Dane brought in to manage die Autostädter from FC Copenhagen.

Lindstrøm remains under contract with his Serie A outfit, Napoli, until 2028. The one-time €30m transfer currently maintains an estimated market value of €18m. Napoli will likely be amenable to a loan deal that could see Lindstrøm regain his form elsewhere. The 25-year-old has already worked with Everton on loan in the Premier League.
