Milan are preparing for their return to competitive action as they take on Serie B side Bari in the first round of the Coppa Italia on Sunday, but head coach Massimiliano Allegri will not be available to the team in the dugout on what will be his first match back in charge of the Rossoneri.
That is because Allegri is suspended for two matches of the Coppa Italia due to an incident during his final match in charge of Juventus in 2024.
The incident in question came during the 1-0 victory over Atalanta in the 2024 Coppa Italia final, which brought a trophy in what turned out to be Allegri’s final game in charge.

Allegri was shown a red card for dissent, proceeded to tear off his jacket on the sideline and was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with Tuttosport editor Guido Vaciago in the tunnel afterwards.
As a result of the coach’s red card with Juventus, he will have to serve a two-match ban in the Coppa Italia. The first of those two matches will fall against Bari on Sunday. If Milan progress, Allegri will also have to sit out of the second round as well.
