Inter Miami earned back-to-back victories this week to climb out of a rough patch, and now they prepare for their FIFA Club World Cup campaign, which begins on June 14 against Al-Ahly.

With the chance of signing players before the tournament, manager Javier Mascherano wants Brian Rodriguez to strengthen his roster.

The Uruguayan midfielder confirms that Inter Miami has spoken with his manager. Also, Rodriguez acknowledged that Luis Suarez had called him personally.

Here are three reasons why Brian Rodriguez will join Inter Miami and play with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez:

The chance to shine on the world stage

Last Saturday, LAFC defeated Club América in the playoffs, earning a spot in Group D of the international tournament.

As a result, Rodriguez won't have the opportunity to play in the 32-team competition unless he makes a move during the special transfer window open for competing teams, including Miami.

Rodríguez has said his preference would be to go to Spain's La Liga, but it may be that a stop in Miami -- with the exposure Messi brings -- could provide the best route to Europe.

The tournament will even add to the spotlight but will remain on Miami so long as Messi is there.

Hailing from Uruguay, Brian Rodríguez will get the chance to play side-by-side with one of his idols, Luis Suárez.

And what better way to catch a player’s interest in joining the Herons than receiving a call from their favorite footballer, Luis Suárez.

During his interview with ESPN, Rodriguez talked about playing with two of the best South American players of the 21st century, and his response warms Inter Miami's ear:

"I had the honor of speaking with Luis Suárez, and he spoke very highly of the club," he said. "It could happen."

Miami may be more urgent than other bidders

Although the Uruguayan has a contract through June of 2026, the expectation is that Club America will sell before then.

And Miami may simply have more urgency than other suitors to get a deal done. Even though the Herons finished May with two wins, a longer run of struggles before that suggests Miami needs reinforcements to make a good showing on the Club World Cup stage.
