Serie A side Atalanta are set to part ways with left-back Matteo Ruggeri and while the player will join Atletico Madrid, the deal has certainly caught many by surprise.
TuttoAtalanta have reported some details about the scenario and claim that Atalanta are actually operating in advance. The Italian’s exit will be financing the move for Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana, who is said to be close to joining La Dea and reunite with Ivan Juric.
Atalanta’s initial offer is at €17 million for the Ghana international and about €3 million more are needed to bring forth the move. Ruggeri’s sale is going through for a fee of €20 million and it will entirely finance the move for Sulemana.
La Dea have done something similar in their move to sign Odilon Koussounou, as they sold Michel Adopo, Juan Musso and Roberto Piccoli. It is a sign that they are looking for financial balance this summer, with Juric keen on making sure that the squad ready by the middle of July.
