Amid their ongoing quest to retain the club’s European crown, Real will be forced to get the better of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the playoffs for the Last-16.

As much will be made official courtesy of another Champions League draw in February.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops, though, are aware that one of two clubs is certain to await in the competition’s Last-16.

One comes in the form of Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen, with the other representing an altogether more tantalising potential showdown, with none other than city rivals Atlético Madrid.

Turning attentions back towards the immediate road ahead, Real Madrid will be back in action on the domestic front on Saturday night, when they make the trip to Barcelona for a La Liga meeting with Espanyol.
