Leeds United look to have found a future star in Wilfried Gnonto and we can reveal all you need to know about him including his goals scored, past clubs and more.
The Premier League side has spent over £100 million in the 2022/23 season, and this has been due to them profiting massively off of the sales of Kalvin Phillips and Raphina.
Not all of the new signings have flourished under Jesse Marsch yet, but one of them who has is Wilfried Gnonto.
The player has truly shone since he has been integrated into the first-team side, and it looks like Leeds have found another gem.
The Premier League side signed striker Gnonto in the summer transfer window on deadline day earlier this season. On September 1st 2022, it is believed that Leeds paid around £4 million for the young star. (Transfermarkt). No doubt Gnonto is now worth a lot more than Jesse March’s side paid for him and they will no doubt profit massively off of him in the future.
There is a reason why everyone sees Gnonto as a wonderkid and that is due to the fact that he is only 19 years old. He was born on 5th November 2003, so has only recently just turned 19 as well. Clearly, age doesn’t matter as he is now a key player and is starting for Leeds in England’s top flight.
Wilfried Gnonto is not that tall at all as he is 1.70 metres, this is five foot five. He weighs 72kg (Eurosport).
Some may claim that this is too small for a Premier League star as he could lose a lot of physical battles; however, his skillset and the way he can run and dribble with the ball make his size perfect for the way in which he plays. It makes his close control perfect.
Leeds United will be hoping Gnonto is English so they can see him follow in the footsteps of Kalvin Phillips and play for the Three Lions, but sadly this is not the case.
Gnonto is from Italy and there is no chance of him switching nationality as he has featured for the Azzurri ever since the U15s. The 19-year-old has already moved up to the senior side, where he has made eight appearances and scored once for Italy.
Roberto Mancini gave him his debut when he was 18 years, six months and 30 days old. The goal he scored was in the Nations League on the 14th of June 2022 against Germany.
We have already mentioned his stats at international level, but the forward has already had a very good career at senior club level before Leeds despite his age.
Gnonto was bought from Swiss side FC Zurich, and at this club, he managed 74 appearances. In these matches, he scored 12 goals and picked up 10 assists in around 2900 minutes of football. This is a pretty good goal contribution for a young player and he has taken that to Leeds as he already has three goals. (Transfermarkt).
