Having officially departed Las Palmas, McBurnie has his preferred next club in his sights
Ollie McBurnie’s preference this summer is to move to Hull City after officially becoming a free agent.
According to HullLive, the forward has yet to reach an agreement with the Tigers, but that it’s his preferred destination at this time.
McBurnie spent last season in Spain competing with Las Palmas, but their 19th place finish has allowed him to depart at the end of the campaign on a free transfer.
This has led to intense speculation over the next step in his career, having contributed three goals and six assists in La Liga last season.
It was reported in June that Sheffield United and Hull are among the clubs eyeing a move for McBurnie, with the former looking to reunite themselves with the striker who departed Bramall Lane just 12 months ago.
Swansea City were also linked with a move for the Scot in May, with Birmingham City also mentioned as a possible next destination.
It is understood however that the Scotland international's preference is to sign for Hull despite his history with both Swansea and Sheffield United.
However, it is feared that a rival side could still swoop in and complete a deal, with the East Yorkshire outfit yet to agree terms with the forward.
It is hoped that his arrival could propel Sergej Jakirovic's side towards their ambition of fighting for a play-off place next season.
McBurnie has an existing relationship with the Tigers’ current head of recruitment Jared Dublin, with the pair working together at Sheffield United previously.
McBurnie is proven at a Championship level, and has shown he can score consistently at the level when given the service.
Given he is a free agent, and his preference is to make the move to Hull, then the club should be pushing to get this deal over the line, as he could add something to their attacking options that they do not currently possess.
Jakirovic will need a consistent goal scorer next season if the team is to complete their ambitions of jumping up to the top end of the table.
The 29-year-old performed well in La Liga last year, and scored 13 times in his last campaign in the Championship for Sheffield United, which would be a great return for Hull if they could replicate that.
