The Baggies have undergone a lengthy search for a new boss after Mowbray’s sacking in April, after the team failed to reach the play-offs following a poor end to the season.

And, it has been widely reported that Mason is the number one target for the Baggies, who want the 33-year-old to take his first permanent managerial role with them in the Championship.

Ryan Mason timeframe becomes clear as West Brom step up interest

In a fresh development, Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has revealed that Mason is expected to weigh up his options over the weekend, with an announcement expected within the next week.

Spurs and West Brom expect Ryan Mason to decide his future by the start of next week. He is top of WBA shortlist for new head coach, and his Spurs contract as assistant to Postecoglou expires next month.”

Albion will be hoping for a swift call, as the head coach will have a big role in transfer plans ahead of the summer window opening, along with the pre-season preparations, with the new campaign set to start in August.

West Brom will hope Ryan Mason risk pays off if he joins

This is obviously a massive decision for Mason, as whilst he has been interim manager at Spurs previously, he hasn’t had a full-time managerial role just yet.

So, he will want to make sure his first step is the right one, and it would appear that Albion is a great opportunity for the ex-Hull City player.

The Baggies are expected to be in the mix for promotion next season, and there is a talented squad at The Hawthorns that Mason could develop.

From West Brom’s perspective, appointing Mason would be a risk given his lack of experience, and some fans will no doubt question why a more proven boss isn’t on the radar, especially given how important it is after the previous appointment of Mowbray didn’t exactly go to plan.

However, owner Shilen Patel and sporting director Andrew Nestor have conducted a thorough process, and Mason is the one who has impressed the most.
