Rodri’s strike secured a landmark win and treble, as Manchester City became the first team since Manchester United in 1999 to win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season.

Pep Guardiola has now won 14 trophies as Manchester City manager and guided the Sky Blues to European glory for the first time, after heartbreak against Chelsea in 2021.

City overcame European heavyweights Bayern Munich and Real Madrid on route to the final, with emphatic wins at the Etihad Stadium against both the German and Spanish giants.

After being crowned European champions, Manchester City will bid to become World Champions later this year after booking their place in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.

The English and European champions will also feature in the extended 32-club Club World Cup in 2025 as a result of Saturday’s win over Inter Milan in Istanbul.

Manchester City will compete in a seven-team tournament in Saudi Arabia in December, looking to win the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

The tournament will take place between December 12th and December 20th, with City entering the competition at the semi-final stages.

The FIFA Club World Cup sees the winners of the UEFA Champions League, Oceania Champions League, Asian Champions League, CONACAF Champions League, African Champions League, Copa Libertadores and Saudi Arabian National League all compete.

As well as Manchester City; Al Ahly, Al Ittihad, Auckland City, Leon and Urawa Red Diamonds have all qualified for the competition to date, according to FIFA.

City cannot face the winners of the Copa Libertadores until the Final, should they qualify, due to seeding regulations.

Previous recent winners of the competition include Liverpool, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola has won the trophy on three previous occasions, twice with Barcelona and once with Bayern Munich.
