A former Chelsea player has been praising one of their current players this week saying ‘when he goes past you, he stays past you.’
The news comes after The Blues thrashed Swedish side Djurgarden 4-1 away from home in the first leg of the Conference League semi-final last night in what was a very convincing performance for Enzo Maresca’s side.
Winger Noni Madueke played the first half and then was subbed off, but he grabbed a tidy little goal and had a terrific performance before doing so. His overall effect on the game was great.
Then in the second half Chelsea finished things off with two goals scored by striker Nicolas Jackson, who had just arrived onto the pitch at half time to play the second half of the game.

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy was full of praise for Noni Madueke during the game.
Cundy said via Chelsea’s official app (quotes picked up by The Chelsea Chronicle): “All of a sudden, Noni Madueke appears from nowhere, left foot, and guides it towards that near post. Just slots it home comfortably. The goalkeeper has got no chance. Lovely finish, nice and composed. That’s the second goal we deserve. He’s played well, Noni. He’s had a big involvement in this game. He’s looked threatening.”
Cundy later added (8:53pm): “He’s threatened on that right-hand side. He’s direct. The one thing I love about Noni is he’s direct, and he’ll take you on. He’s quick. He’s strong. He’s a physical presence. When he goes past you, he stays past you.”
Maresca bought on 16-year-old Reggie Walsh for his senior debut and what a moment that was for him – he almost scored with his first touch too!
And he earned some fine praise from the boss after the game, who says the midfielder is perfect for his system.
I suspect this will not be the last we hear of this young rising star and props to Maresca for bringing him on.
