WEURO 2025 Recap | Vangsgaard on target during Denmark's defeat

It was a tough evening for Amalie Vangsgaard's Denmark, who got off to the best possible start against Germany on Matchday two of Group C of the UEFA Women's EURO 2025: The Danish national team, who went into the game off the back of a 0-1 defeat in their tournament opener against Sweden, took an early lead thanks to a goal from the Bianconere forward, who made the most of Germany’s failure to clear the ball and beat the opposing goalkeeper with a right-footed strike at the near post.

The match, however, went in a completely different direction, as the statistics showed: 27 shots to 5 in favour of the Germans and 72% possession for Germany, whose dominance led to them reversing the result in the second half in the space of a handful of minutes. The scoreline quickly changed from 1-0 to 1-2, a result that condemned Denmark to elimination from the tournament - given the simultaneous success of Sweden who secured a 3-0 win against Poland, the next opponent of Vangsgaard's Denmark in their final, and now meaningless match of Group C.
