Westerlo hoping to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper on loan | OneFootball

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Westerlo are looking to England in order to solve their goalkeeping problem. They have engaged in talks with Aston Villa over the chance to bring goalkeeper Joe Gauci in on loan. The 24-year-old has only played twice for the club this season and it appears that Villa are happy to send him out on loan. A move to Westerlo would see him link up with another Australian in Jordan Bos.

Gauci joined Villa in the summer from Adelaide United. He had made 76 appearances for the A League side before moving to the Premier League. Westerlo are in desperate need of a new goalkeeper. Their first choice to start the season, 36-year-old Sinan Bolat, has had a poor season. In some instances his mistakes have cost them points. The side then turned to his back-up, the 35-year-old Koen Van Langendonck. While the other veteran has made some improvements, they could still do with bringing in a younger replacement to help them avoid relegation. Gauci would be an upgrade on the current situation.
