Chelsea offered Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to West Ham United earlier this summer, but the Hammers rejected the offer, according to the Sun.

The London Stadium club were in talks with the Blues over a deal for Mohammed Kudus, and the 26-year-old English midfielder was set to be included in the deal.

Chelsea valued Dewsbury-Hall at around £30 million and wanted to use him as a makeweight, which would have seen him move to West Ham.

They included him in addition to a proposed £20m fee for Kudus, but the Hammers valued Dewsbury-Hall at £20m, and both clubs never came close to agreeing on a fee.

He has since joined Everton in a deal worth around £29m, while West Ham sold Kudus to Tottenham Hotspur for £55m.

The Hammers are now reportedly looking to sign another midfielder from Chelsea having tabled a £42m bid for Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos.

However, the Stamford Bridge club knocked back the offer and manager Graham Potter could now look elsewhere for reinforcements in the middle of the park.

He watched on helplessly as Sunderland ran his side ragged in a 3-0 defeat in their opening Premier League game of 2025-26.

West Ham have Guido Rodriguez, James Ward-Prowse, Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez as options in midfield, but the Mexican could be on his way out this summer.

Ajax and Fenerbahce want him, and the Turkish Super Lig club have reportedly opened talks to sign him, with their manager, Jose Mourinho, a huge admirer.

West Ham will have to bring in another player in the position if they decide to sell Alvarez, and Dewsbury-Hall would have been a perfect addition to their midfield.

However, the deal from Chelsea was not deemed good enough by the Hammers and they will now have to go get a solid midfielder.

Southampton Portuguese midfielder Mateus Fernandes and his Lille counterpart Ngal’ayel Mukau are also on their radar.

West Ham will have to move quickly as there is a little less than a fortnight before the summer transfer market closes.
