Once again, Paris Saint-Germain are set to strengthen considerably in midfield this summer. Gabriel Moscardo has already arrived and is in first-team training with his new team-mates, and it is understood that he will soon be joined by João Neves, who is set to arrive for big money from Benfica.

However, in order to accommodate the new recruits into an already stacked midfield, departures are needed. One seems imminent. Renato Sanches has failed to keep fit since joining PSG from Lille OSC and is set to join Benfica as part of the move that will see Neves move to the Parc des Princes.

Manuel Ugarte continues to garner interest from Manchester United, although an agreement between the two clubs is yet to be reached. Carlos Soler is another prime candidate to leave. The Spain international has been a fringe player for Les Parisiens since joining two years ago and he will be allowed to leave should a good offer come PSG’s way.

Aston Villa showed interest in Soler in January, as did Brighton and Hove Albion. The latter remain interested and have enquired about a potential move and they have been joined in the race to sign the midfielder by West Ham United, according to L’Équipe. Soler’s contract with PSG runs until 2027.
