The signing of Owen Beck has turned out to be a real coup for John Eustace's men, with the Liverpool loanee heavily impressing during his time at Ewood Park.

In previous years, the 22-year-old had spells at both Bolton Wanderers and Dundee FC, with his performances for the Dee catching the eye of Rovers enough for them to offer him a temporary contract.

Since arriving, the Wrexham-born defender has managed to make that left-back position his own and Harry Pickering will know how difficult it will be to displace him once he returns from injury.

A real standout performer, once this campaign concludes, he will return to Merseyside. However, whether the Reds have any long-term plans for him remains uncertain. If they do not, he could depart on a permanent deal in the next transfer window and you can be sure that a host of Championship sides, including Blackburn, will be eager to secure his signature.

Speaking to Football League World about whether he thinks Rovers should attempt to sign Beck permanently, FLW's Blackburn pundit, Simon Middlehurst revealed that while he would like to, it remains unlikely due to the level of his performances.

"Owen Beck has been one of the best players this season; he and Callum Brittain have been absolute quality," said Middlehurst.

"He's fantastic. You can see why he was so highly rated under Klopp.

"But will we keep him? I highly doubt it. I think he has got a really bright future ahead of him in the Premier League at Liverpool. Fingers crossed we can get him back for another season - that would be great.

"I would love to have him permanently from Liverpool, but it isn't going to happen. We just don't have the funds for it."

Blackburn are firmly in the race for a play-off spot and it is clear to see how big of a part Beck has played in managing to get them there.

Part of a defence that has conceded just 29 goals in 30 games, the left-back will continue to be one of the first names on the teamsheet for Eustace and the head coach will be hopeful for a continued run of form from the 22-year-old.

At this age, inconsistencies can be rife within your game, but this is something that Beck hasn't displayed at all.

While he may not be there next year, you can be sure that the youngster will be giving his all to help those at Blackburn secure that top-six spot and give them an opportunity at returning to the Premier League.
