A recent arrival at La Liga giants Real Madrid last weekend showcased precisely why Los Blancos pushed so hard for his signature in the first place.

The player in question? Lamini Fati.

Fati, for those not familiar with his name, is a 19-year-old defender, who chiefly lines out in a central role.

After making a name for himself as a potential breakout star on the books of Leganés over the opening half of last season, a number of clubs across Spain are understood to have expressed an interest in Fati’s signing.

In the end, though, it was the aforementioned Real Madrid who beat out the competition to strike a January deal.

The stopper was recently promoted from Los Blancos’ U19s to Castilla, giving rise to a debut appearance for the latter last weekend.

And to say that Fati went on to impress would be putting it lightly.
