Whilst it seems the Rossonerri are set to part-ways with former Porto manager Sergio Conceicao following a disastrous second half of the Serie A campaign, Milan have set their sights on Vincenzo Italiano and Thiago Motta as ideal candidates to take over at the helm of the Diavolo.
Sportmediaset reports, via MilanNews, that with the Rossonerri board primarily focused on sorting out the future of who will be coaching from the dug-out next season, Milan have placed Antonio Conte and Massimiliano Allegri high within their priority list.
However, with Conte most likely returning to Juventus for the first time in eleven years and Allegri serving as De Laurentiis’ primary choice as the successor for the former Inter and Juventus coach, Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano and former Juventus and Bologna coach Thiago Motto have now emerged in pole-position to take the Milan job.
After having lost two consecutive cup-finals with Fiorentina in the UEFA Conference League, Italiano has redeemed himself and has demonstrated that he deserves to coach a top club, having led Bologna through an incredible campaign where the Italian tactician helped the Rossoblu clinch the Coppa Italia against Milan, helping the club win their first piece of silverware in 51 years and securing Europa league football next season.
On the other hand, despite Motta’s underwhelming first seven months as Juventus coach, Milan still rate him very highly as a result of his incredible work in which he guided Bologna to Champions League qualification the season prior.
With Italiano currently unable to reach an agreement with Bologna and Motta without a club after having been relinquished from his duties by the Bianconeri, only time will tell who Milan will select to take over as coach this up-coming season.
