Villarreal on the verge of deal for Napoli star | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Villarreal are all set to land a member of the defensive ranks at Italian champions Napoli.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Rafa Marín as the player in question.

Defender Marín is for his part fresh off a hugely underwhelming debut campaign in Naples, which saw the 23-year-old afforded a grand total of just four appearances.

The widespread expectation, in turn, has long been that Marín will be granted a departure from Antonio Conte’s squad this summer.

And as alluded to above, this week, a clear frontrunner in the race for the Spaniard’s signature has come to the fore.

As per a report from MD, citing sources in Naples:

‘Rafa Marín is reportedly close to becoming a Villarreal player after the two clubs reached an agreement as they finalize the final details. The deal isn’t done, but it’s close.’

Marín is primed to make the move to La Ceràmica on loan for the 2025/26 campaign, with the deal expected to feature an option to buy.
