Viktor Gyökeres ready to join Man United but 'only on one condition' | OneFootball

Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres is keen on a move to Manchester United this summer but only if they can secure Champions League football for next season.

That's according to a report from German journalist, Christoph Michel, who claims that the Sweden international is adamant he wants to play in Europe's premier club competition next term.

Gyökeres has netted 52 goals in 48 appearances so far in 2024/25, with the 26-year-old becoming one of the hottest properties in the market.

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona are thought to be keeping an eye on the towering forward but it's United who are reportedly showing the keenest interest in his services.

Gyökeres worked with United boss Ruben Amorim this season and has a good working relationship with the young coach.

But Michel claims that the former Brighton striker would only reunited with Amorim should his side qualify for a Champions League place come May.

That is clearly an impossibility in the Premier League with United in 14th place and a whopping 21 points behind Chelsea in fifth.

But should the Red Devils win the Europa League, they will take their place in the 2025/26 Champions League.

United travel to face Athletic Club in the first leg of their semi-final on Thursday and should they win that two-legged affair will go back to Bilbao for a final against either Tottenham or Bodø/Glimt.
