Earlier today, FC Barcelona winger and one of the team captains, Raphinha, spoke to the media ahead of their Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club on Wednesday.
During his interaction in the press conference, the matter of the failed registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor was discussed heavily.
At one point, Raphinha was asked if the entire registration fiasco could affect Barça’s future transfer endeavours and make players rethink joining the club, to which he gave an honest response saying:
“I don’t like to lie. I think it can affect the future. If I was at another club maybe I would think about it. But when I came here, before signing I knew the situation of the club and I waited to be able to come here and I don’t regret anything.”
Soon after the press conference, a video surfaced wherein Barcelona president Joan Laporta can be seen speaking privately to Raphinha just before the Catalans began training for tomorrow’s game.
The chat went on for close to a minute and while it is unclear as to what was said, there is a good possibility that the matter of the Brazilian’s statements during the presser will have been discussed.
Laporta has yet to address the media himself amidst all the controversy. There has been intense pressure on him, with opposition member groups even calling for his resignation.
As far as the registrations of Olmo and Victor are concerned, Barcelona have submitted their appeal requesting an emergency precautionary measure from the Higher Council for Sports (CSD), thus allowing the pair to play again.
If the CSD does not rule in favour of Barça, the club plan to take the matter to the ordinary courts as a last resort.
