Cole Palmer (of course) won Chelsea’s in-house player of the year award. But according to one of his teammates, that shouldn’t be all he wins.

In a funny interview on Sky Sports this evening previewing the game against Brighton, Conor Gallagher insisted that Palmer should be winning the league’s best player award.

“He deserves it for all the goals and assists he got for us this season,” Gallagher explained. Well, it’s hard to argue with that. It’s hard to think of a Chelsea team that’s been carried more by an individual over the years, including in Eden Hazard’s peak.

These awards to tend to go to a player in the team which wins the title – and we can see the logic in that. But has any individual Man City or Arsenal player really been as Palmer this season? We’re not so sure.
