The second half capitulation at Sunderland yesterday is a serious warning sign that West Ham are set for full scale battle for survival this season.

Although it is only one match into the campaign, the previous seasons form cannot be disregarded – the club is in a dark place and the final couple of weeks of the transfer window are more important than ever.

To put it simply, if West Ham do not bring in the players desperately needed, then Championship football next season is a very real possibility.

West Ham are a club paying the price for dreadful decision making from the top over the years, with a desire to seek the cheaper options in regards to managerial choices and overspending in the transfer market, with a clear lack of direction and poor decision making now taking hold.

It is clear that West Ham are so far behind others, with a painfully slow team, particularly in the midfield – something that has yet to be addressed, despite the warning signs there all of last season in particular.

The fact Sunderland were able to expose West Ham so easily in the second half is alarming – how are we going to fair against the likes of Chelsea next week? At this stage it doesn’t bear thinking about.

One thing id for sure. The last 2 weeks of this summer transfer window are vital. Get it wrong, then West Ham are very much in line for relegation this season.
