Virgil van Dijk's expressed his disappointment after Liverpool suffered 3 - 2 penalty shootout defeat to Crystal Palace in the FA Community Shield at Wembley.
The Reds who were aiming to start the 2025 /26 season with silverware, saw their hopes dashed after Van Dijk conceded first half penalty that led to Palace’s equaliser.
"I hate losing and we’ve now lost our last 2 match at Wembley .. that’s very sad for me" Van Dijk told talkSPORT.
Calls for Transfer Market Action
With Darwin Nunez & Luis Diaz both departing Anfield this summer, Van Dijk hinted at the need for attacking reinforcements.
"I think we need to sign another striker. Let’s see what happens in the transfer market" the Dutchman added.
