Valencia forward Sergi Canos was approached after his side’s Copa del Rey victory against Eldense to share his thoughts on Vinicius Jr.’s two-match suspension and the arguments presented by Real Madrid in the player’s defence.
The suspension came after Vinicius received a red card during Real Madrid’s recent match against Valencia.
Additionally, Real Madrid claimed that the Brazilian forward was subjected to racist insults during the game at Mestalla stadium, a claim that Canos and his Valencia teammates reportedly did not hear.
When asked about his opinion on the suspension handed to Vinicius, Canos chose not to comment directly on the matter. “I have no comment on the sanction to Vinicius,” he said as quoted by AS.
He also addressed Real Madrid’s allegations regarding racist chants, stating that neither he nor any of his teammates had heard such remarks during the match. Canos mentioned that if such insults had occurred, it would be a regrettable incident.

However, he also emphasised that if the accusations were unfounded, it would be equally disappointing. He suggested verifying the truth of the claims before making further comments.
“If there were racist chants, I didn’t hear them, no one from my team heard them. If there were, it is regrettable.
“But if there were not and they say there were, it is also regrettable. Let us see first if it is true or not and from there we will comment,” he added.
As it stands, Vinicius. has been officially handed a two-match ban. This means the Real Madrid winger will miss two upcoming La Liga fixtures.
The first is a home match against Las Palmas, scheduled for January 19, followed by the game against Real Valladolid on January 25. These absences could impact Real Madrid’s squad rotation as they aim to maintain their position in the league.
Despite the domestic suspension, Vinicius will still be available for other competitions. He remains eligible to participate in Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League match against RB Salzburg.
Furthermore, he can feature in the Spanish Super Cup, ensuring his involvement in critical fixtures outside La Liga.
