Manchester United will look to offload Christian Eriksen this summer in order to avoid him leaving as a free agent, as per Football Insider.

The experienced Dane’s contract will expire in June 2025, making the forthcoming transfer window the last chance United have at recuperating as high a fee as possible; clubs will be unwilling to pay too much for the midfielder next January, given that he’d then have just five months remaining on his terms.

While it’s not been strictly confirmed as of yet, the chances of Eriksen signing an extension are incredibly low. He’s made no secret of his displeasure over his significant lack of game time, and the situation is unlikely to improve next term.

United’s No.14 now a rotational squad member

Eriksen was one of the first signings of Erik ten Hag’s tenure when he arrived as a free agent following a one-year spell at Brentford. He played an integral role in his maiden Old Trafford campaign, making 37 starts in all competitions as well as seven outings as a substitute, despite being sidelined for an extended period with a knee injury from February to April.

In 2023/2024, the 32-year-old has been limited to a mere 11 starts in total, and in 10 of United’s past 11 Premier League matches, he’s been an unused substitute.

As such, it’s in the best interest of all parties if the former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker departs when the current campaign draws to a close.
