Juventus are still unbeaten in Serie A this season, but if they keep the same point average until the end of the season, they could miss out on a Champions League spot.

Juventus could miss out on a Champions League spot if they keep the same point average they’ve had in the first half of the season.

Thiago Motta’s side is the only unbeaten Serie A team this term, but they have collected 11 draws in 18 matches, averaging 1,77 points per game.

The Bianconeri have earned 32 points in 18 rounds, which, as noted by Ilbianconero.com, means they’ll reach 67 points at the end of the season if they don’t increase their point average in the second part of the campaign.

It’s a worrying figure, as this tally has not been enough to qualify for the Champions League in the last five seasons.

Back in 2019-20, Lazio finished fourth with 78 points, the same as Juventus in the following campaign.

The Bianconeri finished 4th also in 2021-22, that time with 70 points.

Milan finished fourth with 70 points in 2022-23, when Juventus were deducted 10 points for financial irregularities. Without the point penalty, Inter would have been fourth with 72 points that season.

Last season, 67 points were not even enough for the fifth spot, which was enough for Bologna to qualify for Europe’s elite competition.

Motta earned 68 points in 38 matches at the Stadio Dall’Ara last season, one fewer than fourth-placed Atalanta.
