Marco Asensio’s future at PSG remains uncertain after the club loaned him to Aston Villa during the winter transfer window. The Spaniard impressed in the Premier League, but Aston Villa initially decided against making the move permanent.

Now, CaughtOffside reported Aston Villa are close to completing a permanent deal for Asensio, with an offer worth up to €15 million being prepared.

Manager Unai Emery has been pushing for his return. Moreover, he believes that Asensio can bring creativity, experience, and added quality to Aston Villa’s attack.

That pursuit has been fueled by Jacob Ramsey’s £40 million move to Newcastle United, which freed up both funds and squad space to make a permanent signing possible.

On Saturday, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery spoke about the club’s transfer plans heading into the final days of the summer window amid rumors of wanting to bring Asensio back.

“We are keeping balance, and we are respecting the rules,” Emery said (h/t The Mirror). “We are being competitive in the transfer window. Since I arrived here, we have done fantastic windows, in January and the summer. We now have to be intelligent and as well so alert in everything. I think the most important is how we are building the team, trying to get as strong as possible with the players we have.

“The club is working fantastic, and we are ambitious. We are ambitious, respecting the rules too, trying to get the best players possible. We are trying to be a contender for Europe and compete like we did today. We are not going to rest in case we can be with an option in the transfer window.”
