Roma have officially stepped up their pursuit of Chelsea forward Tyrique George, as reported by Sky Sports News. With clubs across Europe and the Premier League keeping tabs on the 18-year-old, the next step in George’s career could come sooner than expected.
Sky Sports confirmed: “Fulham and Crystal Palace are the top-flight clubs keeping an eye on his situation.” It is understood that both clubs view George as a high-upside signing who could contribute immediately or develop into a first-team asset in the short term. Fulham in particular are pushing ahead.
The Cottagers have built a reputation for offering young talent a clearer path to senior football, something that may appeal to George amid stiff competition at Stamford Bridge.
Crystal Palace, meanwhile, have benefitted in recent years from their development of young attacking players. George, with his agility and ability to cut inside from the left, fits the mould of what the South London club have valued.
European giants Bayern Munich have also expressed an interest, but their approach has been notably different. Sky Sports reported that Bayern “have explored a loan.”
This could appeal to Chelsea as a chance to develop George further in a high-performance setting, but the West London club are reportedly leaning towards a different kind of deal.

The direction from Chelsea is clear. According to Sky Sports, “Chelsea’s preference is to do a permanent deal.” That shift signals an evolving transfer strategy at the club, with more emphasis on streamlining the squad and creating space for high-impact players in key positions.
While George remains a highly-rated academy product, opportunities under Enzo Maresca may be limited, and Chelsea appear prepared to cash in rather than loan out.
George featured prominently at youth level last season and was named on the bench for senior fixtures. But with the club’s current attacking depth, a pathway into the first team is difficult to envisage.
George’s next move could define the trajectory of his professional career. Roma’s bid, believed to be a permanent offer, gives the player a real decision to make between playing time in Italy or fighting for minutes closer to home.
There are few more intriguing cases in this summer window than George, a player on the brink of stepping into the elite game.
For Chelsea supporters, the news of Tyrique George potentially leaving on a permanent basis brings mixed emotions. On one hand, fans are eager to see Cobham graduates make it into the first team. George has shown flashes of quality and composure at youth level, and for some, his departure could feel premature.
However, Chelsea are no strangers to cutting ties early and inserting buy-back clauses or sell-on fees, protecting themselves from future regret.
Roma might offer European exposure, but Fulham and Palace would provide closer proximity and a more familiar style of play. Ultimately, if George isn’t in Maresca’s plans for 2025-26, moving now could be best for his growth. Supporters will watch closely to see whether Chelsea repeat past errors or show they’ve learned from them in the market.
