Alieu Njie has made waves in the Serie A world after scoring the winner for Torino against Como earlier this weekend. According to a report, AC Milan tried to sign the 19-year-old this summer.

Njie came off the bench in the 65th minute of Torino’s clash against Como and managed to find the back of the net ten minutes later. He was gifted the goal by the Como defence, it must be said, but he did well to round the keeper and slot it home.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport, as cited by PianetaMilan, the young Swede is similar to Milan star Rafael Leao and this is where an interesting background comes in. Indeed, Milan and technical director Geoffrey Moncada tried to sign the player in the summer.

Njie convinced the Rossoneri after scoring a hat-trick in the Trofeo Mamma Cairo against the Primavera side, with Moncada moving quickly thereafter. However, president Urbano Cairo put up a wall and refused to even open talks with Milan.

The idea was to give Njie a leading role in the Futuro side, with the opportunity to train/play with the first team as well. It would thus be similar to Francesco Camarda’s arrangement. They never got that far, though, and now Torino are preparing a renewal for the forward.
