With Liverpool on the hunt for a new midfieldera story in Gazzetta claims that Jurgen Klopp’s side could offer Brazil forward Roberto Firmino in exchange for Paris St-Germain and Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Barcelona and Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has stalled over personal terms with the player wanting a two-year deal while the Blues are only prepared to offer a one-year contract, say the Mirror.

Football Insider say that Nottingham Forest have made an approach to Everton to sign England defender Michael Keane on loan.

On the continent

A story in Bild this morning claims that if Frenkie de Jong remains at Barcelona this season, then Bayern Munich will prioritise his signing in next summer’s transfer window.

MARCA claim that former Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has received an offer from Bayer Leverkusen after his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu expired.

Sky Sports claim that Cristiano Ronaldo’s representative Jorge Mendes has approached Napoli over a potential move for the Manchester United forward.

Corriere dello Sport however say that Mendes has in fact been in contact with Milan over his client joining before the end of the window.

From the horse’s mouth

Transfer expert David Ornstein told the Handbreak Off podcast that Arsenal are still active in the transfer market: “They are still active in the market – that’s in terms of a potential incoming and outgoings too. Incoming – we know Arsenal would like to bring in a wide player. Ideally, that player would be Pedro Neto of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“He is now the recruitment priority for Arsenal. He’s a player that they’ve liked for a long time. Now is the time Mikel Arteta would like to move for him.”
