Toni Juanmarti from SPORT has revealed that RB Leipzig will turn down Barcelona’s second offer for Dani Olmo.

According to the report, the Bundesliga team is still not satisfied with Barcelona’s proposal of nearly €50 million in fixed fees plus about €15 million in add-ons.

Interestingly, despite this setback, sources from the Catalan club remain hopeful that significant progress can be made in the coming days.

It is no secret that Barcelona are keen on Olmo because their chances of signing Nico Williams seem very slim right now. Therefore, they have been focusing on Olmo for at least a week.

Leipzig want better payment condition

Initially, the Germans rejected Barcelona’s first offer, finding it very unsatisfactory. In response, Barcelona improved their offer to around €45-50 million in fixed fees, with an additional €14-16 million in variables.

However, according to reports, Leipzig are set to reject this improved offer as well.

The main reasons for Leipzig’s refusal are the total amount of the deal and the proposed payment terms, with the latter being a significant sticking point.

Leipzig insists on at least €55 million guaranteed. What particularly bothers them is Barcelona’s proposed payment schedule. Barcelona believe that a combination of €50 million in fixed fees plus €10-15 million in variables could eventually be acceptable if they persist.

But Barcelona face problems

However, the timing of the payment of the €50 million is the primary hurdle. Leipzig want to receive most of this fixed amount in the next few months, even if not all during the summer transfer window.

On the other hand, Barcelona acknowledge that they need to defer a significant portion of the transfer fee payment to the medium term, meaning over a year from now.

Despite these challenges, Barcelona remain optimistic about signing Olmo. The club is confident that substantial progress can be made in the coming days.

If successful, this would align with Barcelona’s goal of securing a signing before the end of their tour in the United States.
