Spurs still light on defensive numbers but hoping for boost
Ange Postecoglou hopes he will have Destiny Udogie and Timo Werner available for Sunday’s match against Liverpool.
Tottenham will hope to use the momentum gained from Thursday night’s 4-3 Carabao Cup quarter-final victory over Manchester United.
Werner missed that game due to illness, while left-back Udogie missed it after limping off during the 5-0 victory at Southampton last weekend.
Speaking on Friday morning, Postecoglou said: “Timo was unwell yesterday, Udogie was out before the game and we hope they will be okay.”
Asked to offer an update on Mikey Moore, who had come down with a virus, Postecoglou said: “No, no. he hasn’t been involved [in training]. We’ll need to get at least a couple of weeks’ training into Mikey.”
Udogie, if fit, could come back into the starting XI and replace Djed Spence, who earned his second-ever Tottenham start against United.
There could also be a recall for Brennan Johnson was appeared as a substitute on Thursday.
Tottenham predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma; Johnson, Kulusevski, Son; Solanke
Injured: Van de Ven, Vicario, Romero, Richarlison, Davies, Bentancur, Odobert
