Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed that Tottenham Hotspur could move in for Liverpool playmaker Harvey Elliott this summer. O’Rourke said,

“It was a bad injury to James Maddison that’s [since] been confirmed.

“He’s suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury which means he will miss the majority of the new season, which is a huge blow to him and to Tottenham.

“Harvey Elliott would tick a lot of boxes – the player is open to leaving Liverpool this summer, [he] wants to be playing regular first team football having dropped down the pecking order at Anfield.

“He had a great Under-21 Euros with England and I think, reluctantly, Liverpool would consider letting Elliott go for the right fee.”

Elliott’s Impressive Season In English Football

Elliott had an impressive campaign at the Merseyside club as he produced a series of eye-catching performances for them in the Premier League. The 22-year-old registered five goals and grabbed three assists in 28 matches for Liverpool last season on all fronts.

His current contract at Anfield will run out in the summer of 2027. Thus, Spurs would have to meet Liverpool’s demands if they want to sign the talented playmaker this off-season.

Should Tottenham Hotspur Boss Thomas Frank Bring Elliott On Board?

Elliott is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and can chip in by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team. Elliott is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a right-winger if needed.

However, the English sensation needs to figure out a way to improve his productivity going forward. He has got a wealth of experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Tottenham.

Elliott would bring more firepower to Spurs head coach Thomas Frank’s attack. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the North London club next season.

At 22, Elliott has got the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Hence, Tottenham would be wise to bring him on board this summer.
