The 57-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the north London club.

“Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play,” said Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

“He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy – everything that is important to our Club. We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead.”

Postecoglou joins Tottenham after two years at Celtic saw him claim five trophies, including a domestic treble in 2022/23.

Celtic had finished second the season before Postecoglou’s arrival, picking up just 77 points and finishing 25 points adrift of rivals Rangers. He quickly transformed the club, though, picking up back-to-back titles with 93 and 99 points, the latter being the joint-third highest total in Celtic’s history.

Born in Greece, Postecoglou previously coached in Australia, where won national titles before leading the Socceroos to the 2015 Asia Cup, and won the league in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos.

The move will see the 57-year-old become the first Australian to lead a Premier League team as the 2023/24 season begins.
