Tottenham’s inconsistent form in the Premier League continued as they drew at home to 10-man Fulham.

After recording a comprehensive 4-0 win over Manchester City away from home last weekend, all eyes were on Spurs to see whether they could make it back-to-back wins in the league for the first time since September.

In truth, the north London outfit didn’t make too many inroads at the Cottagers’ goal during the first half with Bernd Leno called into serious action once and that was to deny Radu Dragusin with a fine save. Though James Maddison’s deflected free-kick did brush the post.

Meanwhile, at the other end, Fraser Forster made one astounding save to deny Raul Jimenez and appeared to have got fingertips on Alex Iwobi’s effort to divert it onto the crossbar.

The deadlock was broken early in the second half as Brennan Johnson - against the run of play - half-volleyed home from close range following good work on the left-hand side from Timo Werner.

But the visitors regrouped. Marco Silva tweaked things and was rewarded almost instantly as Tom Cairney equalised with a stunning strike.

However, the Fulham club captain went from hero to zero as his yellow card for a foul on Dejan Kulusevski was recommended by VAR to be checked for serious foul play. The referee then upgrades it to a red.

Despite the one-man advantage for the final six minutes, plus stoppages, Spurs failed to seriously test Leno and it will surely feel like two points dropped for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
