Milan Futuro booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia Serie C tonight with a 1-0 win away from home against Torres.
The only goal of the game came in the early stages of the second half and it was a quite simply brilliant goal by Diego Sia that sealed the win for Daniele Bonera’s side.
The winger picked up the ball in his own half and went on a weaving run that took him first to the left wing and then towards the corner of a box. He eventually unleashed a dipping shot from over 20 yards out that sailed into the roof of the net.
There was a bit of a feisty ending as the home side seemed to lose their head a bit, with Diakite shown his marching orders in the 79th minute for hitting out at Andrei Coulis inside the box.
The Rossoneri were unable to get another goal and kill the game off, but ultimately they managed to progress into the final eight of the competition. There they will face Caldiero Terme, who beat Padova this afternoon.
It was certainly a nice break for the Futuro given their struggles in Serie C. They were well beaten 4-1 by the league leaders Pescara on Thursday night, and then twice led against fellow strugglers Sestri Levante on Sunday but had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
