Samuele Ricci, Morten Frendrup, Matteo Pessina, and Warren Bondo are among the midfielders Inter Milan could target to replace Davide Frattesi.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
There is now a very strong sense that Inter will have to replace Frattesi sooner or later.
That could be next summer. The Nerazzurri would certainly prefer that, keeping hold of the 25-year-old until the end of this season.
However, if a sufficient offer arrives in January, Inter could sell Frattesi. They want in the region of €45 million for the Italian international’s services.
One possibility that’s emerged is that Roma could offer Bryan Cristante on loan as part of a deal for Frattesi.
But that is not really in line with Inter’s strategy.
It is possible that the Nerazzurri could see the 29-year-old’s availability on a low-cost short-term as an opportunity to bolster their midfield depth for the second half of this season.
The Nerazzurri are aiming to lower the average age of the squad with Oaktree Capital at the helm. And a player like Cristante, who’ll be thirty at the end of the campaign, hardly suits that notion.
On the other hand, Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci would be an ideal target.
The 23-year-old is a player Inter have long admired. He would have the qualities to fill in either in holding midfield or in a box-to-box role.
Torino would reportedly want around €40 million for Ricci. Therefore, a deal would be within reach financially if Inter were to receive their asking price for Frattesi.
Meanwhile, Genoa’s Morten Frendrup is also on Inter’s radar as a stylistically similar replacement for Frattesi. As are Monza duo Matteo Pessina and Warren Bondo.
Then, Empoli’s Jacopo Fazzini has also caught the eye. Lazio have been pushing to sign the 21-year-old in January – but so far without success.
