The goalkeeping situation at FC Barcelona heading into the 2025/26 season is proving to be a complex puzzle.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who remains under contract until 2028, is returning from injury and there are concerns about his performance levels.
Wojciech Szczesny, meanwhile, is considering a renewal offer from Barça, while Inaki Pena seems to have realised that his future does not lie at Camp Nou.
Amidst all this, Barcelona are targeting a summer move for Joan Garcia of Espanyol, who has even received a formal offer from the club.
Should Garcia arrive, he would compete for the No. 1 spot, which could lead to Ter Stegen’s exit while Szczesny would continue as the backup.
With Pena set to leave, the third-choice goalkeeping spot will become vacant and Barça’s sporting department will most likely promote someone from within the club unless both Ter Stegen and Szczesny end up staying.
With that in mind, here are three in-house goalkeeping options from La Masia that Hansi Flick can promote next season.

At 21 years old, the oldest of three options on the list, Ander Astralaga was a steady presence in the Barça Atletic team this season, featuring 18 times in which he kept five clean sheets and even captaining the team towards the final stages.
The youngster was in the first-team squad for 26 games this season and could again find himself deputising for the senior goalkeepers come 2025/26. At 21 years old, he is at the right age for a promotion to the senior squad but he has only one year left on his contract.
Diego Kochen is rated very highly within Barcelona so much so that he is considered as a future first-team starter by those at the club.
The 19-year-old American prospect featured 16 times this season for Barça Atletic while featuring in the first-team squad in almost 30 games under Hansi Flick. Given his immense potential, it would not come as a surprise to see him being groomed for a bigger role.

Aged 19, Yaakobishvili played a key role in Barcelona Juvenil A’s treble triumph under Juliano Belletti in the current campaign.
Yaakobishvili is represented by Pini Zahavi like Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczesny. Despite having offers from outside, the Hungarian talent recently signed a new contract with the club until 2028 and could become the third-choice in the first-team setup next season.
