Thomas Tuchel proved right? Tino Livramento with superb man of the match performance | OneFootball

Thomas Tuchel gave an explanation on why he had left Tino Livramento out of his June senior England squad.

The England boss saying that he thought the Newcastle United star could instead be one of the leaders for the England Under 21s as they looked to retain their Euros crown they won back in 2023.

Now Tino Livramento couldn’t have made a better start to this 2025 tournament.

Harvey Elliot gave England a deserved 39th minute lead against the Czech Republic in this opening group match on Thursday night.

Lee Carsley had selected Tino Livramento in the left-back role and just after half-time he reminded us yet again just what a threat he has become going forward on that side of the pitch. The United defender showing great skill to beat the defender and race into the box, his low cross turned in by Jonathan Rowe just a few yards out.

As well as his assured defending, Tino was a constant threat at the other end and indeed the first England goal came from a move that started with the NUFC player, who had put the initial cross in, before McAtee got the assist when playing the ball to Elliott.

The Czech Republic got it back to 2-1 with a headed goal but on 76 minutes Charlie Cresswell headed one in for England and it meant a fine 3-1 winning margin in this group game at the Under 21 Euros finals.

Only one candidate for man of the match and hopefully a few more will come the way of Tino Livramento in these Under 21 Euros.

A very good Thursday all round, as with Ukraine leading 21, substitute Will Osula came on and got an assist and the winning goal, Denmark winning 3-2 late on.

There are 16 countries who have qualified for these Under 21s Euros Finals and England find themselves in Group B, the tournament runs to 28 June.

The winners and runners-up from each of the four groups goes through to the knockout quarter-finals.
