Bayern Munich’s Thomas Müller didn’t expect to find himself having to comment on Jamal Musiala’s horror injury after his final game with the German giants. The Bundesliga legend nevertheless remained the consummate club man right up until the very end.
Müller had to answer questions about potentially remaining with Bayern in Musiala’s stead in a pitch side interview. The 35-year-old continued to stand up for his young teammate when speaking in the mixed zone.
“One could immediately tell that something very bad happened,” Müller said. “This scene didn’t look good. It was naturally clear that he needed to be subbed off immediately. The lad obviously has been through some hard times in recent months [after his recent comeback from injury] He’s fought through it well.
“And one could tell today during the first half, when one when witnessed, his intensity, how much he loves playing football,” Müller continued. “We all have a personal relationship with him. It was a difficult half-time [break] when a teammate injures himself like that.
“In such a situation, thoughts should center around Jamal,” Müller concluded. “And let’s be careful that we don’t have tasteless conversations after someone injured himself like that. Everyone about this topic has been said. This is no time to bring mind games to the table.“
