Veteran German forward Thomas Müller has confirmed that he will not be hanging up his boots just yet, declaring his intent to continue his playing career beyond this summer.
Speaking publicly about his future, Müller was clear in his commitment to the game: “I still have the desire to play football, and that’s why I’ve decided to definitely continue. I will remain a footballer.”
After an illustrious career with Bayern Munich and the German national team, speculation had swirled regarding whether the 35-year-old might choose to retire or seek a fresh challenge. Müller has now put those rumours to rest, revealing that his next step will be an overseas venture.
“It will definitely be an experience abroad for me – I’m really looking forward to it and I’m curious,” he stated. While he did not confirm his destination, he hinted strongly at the United States as a likely landing spot: “The MLS is of course an interesting league, especially with the World Cup taking place in the U.S. next year.”
Müller, known for his intelligence on the pitch and unique playing style, would bring a wealth of experience and star power to Major League Soccer, should he make the move. With over 600 appearances for Bayern Munich and a World Cup title with Germany in 2014, he remains one of the most decorated players of his generation.
As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches – set to be hosted across the U.S., Canada and Mexico – MLS clubs may see Müller as a high-profile addition capable of drawing attention and elevating the league's global reputation.
While the next chapter of his career is yet to be officially confirmed, one thing is certain: Thomas Müller is not finished with football just yet. Fans around the world will be watching closely to see where the Bundesliga legend lands next.
