A run of four wins, including the cup final, Harvey Barnes doing what he does best, scoring and helping to create goals.
Having only started nine Premier League matches this season, plus a number of sub appearances, Barnes has still managed nine direct goal involvements in the Premier League this season, scoring six and three assists. On average, a direct goal involvement every 120 PL minutes he is on the pitch.
Manchester United are up next on Sunday and Harvey Barnes and his teammates are focused on only one thing now.
Harvey Barnes talking after Newcastle United made it four wins in a row, thanks to a 3-0 victory back at his old club Leicester:
“We are going into games at the minute feeling confident we are going to win.
“This is the mindset we need for the rest of the season.
“We have a lot to play for and need to keep this run going.”
Harvey Barnes on what it would mean to qualify for the Champions League on top of winning the League Cup:
“Huge.
“That was one of our main aims this season to win silverware, which we have done.
“We made it clear after that, we needed to reset.
“There is a lot to play for and we have started that period really well with two wins [against Brentford and Leicester].
“We don’t want the season now to finish on a downer.
“We are fully focused.
“We know we’re in a good position in the table.
“All we can do is our job, win our games, and we will finish in the top four or five.
“If we win the games, the other teams will be chasing us and not us chasing them.”
Harvey Barnes on Newcastle United leading 3-0 after 34 minutes against Leicester:
“The early goals gave the team a boost but we will look back and we weren’t at our fluid best [against Leicester].”
