One player who does both dazzle and frustrate at times is Jeremy Doku. The Belgian winger at his best is devastating. At his worst, he is a frustrating player whose decision-making in the final third does need to improve. But in the closing stages of Manchester City’s crucial 2-nil win over Everton at Goodison Park, there was a glimpse of the player that Jeremy Doku could one day become.

Doku replaced Savinho in the 78th minute of Manchester City’s 2-nil win over Everton. The game was delicately poised at nil-all when Doku came on. Upon his introduction, he set about getting at a tired Everton defence. His pace and dribbling brought another element to City’s play. What also caught the eye was Doku’s strength. He wasn’t knocked off the ball and that attribute when he’s on form does make him an even more dangerous proposition. His dribbling ability and pace are his most dangerous weapons, couple those with his strength and he becomes a bulldozer of a player. Jeremy Doku could develop into that type of winger. If he does he’d become a nightmare to defend for Manchester City’s opponents.

Speaking after his team’s win at Goodison Park Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Doku’s cameo performance against Everton. Speaking on the Belgian international’s performance he said: “Today the impact was; he had the ball, drop the teams, and his threat, arrive to the by-line. Because Jeremy (Doku) in the final third is unstoppable. He’s an incredible, incredible football player. And I’m really pleased that today he played really good.

Summary.

Jeremy Doku put in a quality cameo appearance against Everton. But it also showed what type of player he could potentially develop into. With his pace, trickery and strength Doku has everything needed to be an elite winger. If he can tidy up his end product he’ll be the complete package. That’s the challenge for Doku to become a more consistent player. Cause if he does he’ll be a bulldozer of a winger for Manchester City who has the technical ability to tear games to shreds. That’s a powerful combination and one that could be of great benefit to Pep Guardiola’s squad.
