There appears to be little chance that Manchester City will sign Tino Livramento this summer

Manchester City have already made four signings so far this summer. Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli and Tijjani Reijnders have given Pep Guardiola’s squad a completely different look. But there remains one gaping void in the City squad. That is at right-back. Versatile Newcastle United full-back Tino Livramento has loomed as Manchester City’s preferred target to fill the right-back position. But based on new comments from Livramento, there appears to be little to no chance of City signing one of Newcastle’s key players.

Tino Livramento is loving life at Newcastle.

In a new interview with Lee Ryder, published in the Chronicle Live, Tino Livramento has spoken of how happy he is playing at Newcastle. There is nothing to suggest that he is looking to leave Eddie Howe’s side this summer. Speaking on playing for Newcastle, Livramento said that he knows he is playing for a big club and is looking to win more silverware at Newcastle. He explained: “I knew that they [Newcastle] were a big club when I joined. They were already in the Champions League the summer when I arrived.

So even that was a massive thing for me. To win anything for this club has been a massive achievement, and long may it continue.

Manchester City will likely have to look elsewhere to sign a right-back and perhaps Wesley from Flamengo is the next best option.

Despite Tino Livramento being almost the ideal full-back to slot into Pep Guardiola’s squad, there has been no indication that he would be interested in leaving Newcastle United this summer. Furthermore, Newcastle do not want to sell one of their key players either. That situation could change, but that is unlikely. Based on Tino Livramento’s comments, Manchester City will need to look elsewhere to sign a right-back this summer. Who that could be remains to be seen.

Flamengo right-back Wesley looms as a player who could fit into the Manchester City squad. At 21 years of age, the Brazilian international has the talent and potential to develop into a quality right-back. He is a raw prospect, but he has the technical and tactical ability to be a Manchester City player. Wesley isn’t the finished product, far from it. But with his pace and technical ability coupled with his obvious potential, he does fit the mould of a right-back in a Pep Guardiola side. Wesley can play as an overlapping full-back or he can invert into midfield. He is also blessed with tremendous pace so he has the raw tools to thrive at City. Perhaps he is the right-back that Manchester City will move for this summer.

For now, it appears that Manchester City will not be able to sign Tino Livramento from Newcastle United this summer. He seems intent on staying at St. James Park. That would force City to look elsewhere to sign a right-back, and perhaps Wesley may be the player City look to in their bid to fill a void at right-back.
